About
For the last four years I have been training relentlessly and I have participated in regional, state and national regattas in the U.S.
In 2014 my High School Men’s Varsity 4+ (MV4+) placed 7th at the OARS Invitational, 1st scholastic at the FSRA Sweep Championship, 4th at the Stotesbury Cup in Philadelphia, and we made it to semi-finals at the SRAA Championship.
In 2015 in the Men’s Junior 4+ (MJ4+) we placed 2nd at the FSRA East District Championship and 9th at the FSRA Sweep Championship.
In 2016 again in a Men’s Varsity 4+ (MV4+) we placed 4th in the Miami International Regatta and after I started to scull (halfway through the year) in a Men’s Varsity 2x (MV2x) we placed 7th at the FSRA Sculling Championship and we made it to the semi-finals at the Stotesbury Cup.
I am currently training 2-3 times a day in Miami under legendary junior sculling coach, Francisco Viacava ('84 Olympian - Los Angeles).
My name is Gunther Read. As a Luxembourg-American I have the honor to represent Luxembourg, as a Junior sculler (JM1x) at the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
Thank you for supporting my dream of being the first junior sculler ever to represent Luxembourg at the FISA World Championships in Rotterdam in August, 2016.
